Oracle Integration Cloud for municipality RotterdamPublished on: Author: Team Communication Category: News
Pam Koertshuis is a Solution Architect for the municipality of Rotterdam. She is responsible for, among others, projects concerning the Oracle e-Business Suite (eBS). In 2019, the municipality faced a challenge: reconnect the tender platform Negometrix (cloud) to eBS (on-premise). Because of an eBS update, this had to happen within 2 months. The municipality chose Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) as a solution. Qualogy helped with the implementation.
The purchasing department’s tender platform was already completely automated. But without the new connection between cloud application Negometrix and Oracle eBS, Negometrix’s data would have to be entered manually. It was necessary to move quickly.
The solution’s availability
Pam says: “2 months isn’t a lot of time to implement a fitting solution. That was why rapid availability was high on our priority list. After taking extensive inventory of different solutions, our choice was the integration platform Oracle Integration Cloud.
Besides immediate availability, this platform also offers standard adapters. For instance, the eBS adapter in OIC makes the connection between cloud application Negometrix and Oracle eBS even faster and easier.”
Using the ‘connectivity agent’ in OIC, on-premise applications - such as the municipality of Rotterdam’s eBS environment – can be safely connected to the cloud. OIC is also very user friendly because of the web-based user interface.
Recruiting extra expertise
After choosing OIC, the municipality looked for extra expertise for the integration platform. The municipality came to Qualogy for help. Pam says: “Qualogy-consultant Richard Velden helped us implement OIC. Richard is a fast and involved worker with up-to-date knowledge. He was our fixed contact person. Together with his colleagues, he really helped us.”
First connection to a cloud application
The municipality of Rotterdam had never connected a cloud application to eBS via OIC. Pam: “Security is a sensitive matter for cloud applications. Negometrix was the first connection to a cloud application using OIC. Certain issues arose, such as: how do you make sure only the right employees can call the right services?
Qualogy solved this for us by implementing IP whitelisting in the OIC environment. This functionality isn’t originally a part of the platform. Now, it satisfies our safety requirements.”
A pleasant collaboration
The municipality of Rotterdam and Qualogy are no strangers. And this project was also successfully completed. The collaboration suits both parties well. Pam: “Qualogy represents quality. They are experts with a lot of Oracle experience. It works very well together.”
