The KNSB and Qualogy have fixed their cooperation until and including the 2026 Olympic Games, with the intention to continue working together for the next Olympic cycle (until 2030) as well. Qualogy has been a partner of the KNSB for years when it comes to processing and storing electronic timekeeping (ET) data, but now the company will also assist the federation in the area of talent recognition and development for the long track discipline.
Qualogy has developed the TalentTracker specifically for the KNSB, a product that systematically processes raw data and converts it into usable data that provides insight into the developments of a young skater compared to current top skaters and now faded sports icons.
With the TalentTracker, all available data (ridden times) of all (former) skaters are combined in one dashboard. This provides insight into what the Netherlands has to offer in terms of skating talent. In addition, it gives insight into the development of each individual, which provides guidance for the monitoring of our skaters.
The KNSB can also quickly identify which target groups need more attention, perhaps to make strides with them in the future.
Remy de Wit, KNSB technical director. “The differences in the absolute top are getting smaller and smaller. As a skating country pur sang, we naturally want to compete for medals not only at the upcoming Olympics, but also in 2030, 2034 and beyond. Who will be at the starting line then on behalf of TeamNL, we do not yet know, of course. TalentTracker is an important part in the talent recognition and development process on the way to the world top.”
Paul Mehilal, director of Qualogy adds: “Nice that we can support the talent recognition and development of the KNSB in this way in making data insightful. Just like our skaters, technological developments are moving at lightning speed. We are excited to apply data science and artificial intelligence in the next phase so that together we can make lasting significant progress in the performance of the KNSB Talent Team skaters.”
KNSB Technical Director Remy de Wit and Qualogy CEO Paul Mehilal sealed the extension of the partnership with a handshake in the stands of Ahoy during the recently held Shorttrack World Cup.
