#OOW2019 report Michel Schildmeijer
Published on: Author: Michel Schildmeijer Category: NewsAs a regular visitor, I attended Oracle OpenWorld for the eighth time this year. In this period, I saw the development of Oracle’s software applications and possibilities. As in previous years, I was invited to join the Oracle ACE dinner, to spar and catch up with other ACEs.
Like every year, the speakers were mostly Oracle employees and customers who work closely together with the company and use the Oracle technology. Sadly, it’s rare to have a speaker outside of Oracle give presentations. A missed opportunity, if you ask me. Though this year there were also various contributions from Microsoft employees. This is because Oracle and Microsoft have been intensely working together.
Making choices
There are so many presentations and events at OpenWorld that you really have to choose. I asked myself: what do I find interesting? That’s why I focused on my own fields: WebLogic, Containers and Systems. In my report, I’d like to share the most important news about the following four topics:
- Java EE Roadmap
- WebLogic Roadmap
- Containers and Microservices
- Partnership with Microsoft
