KNSB and Qualogy, partners in talent recognition
News
The KNSB (Royal Dutch Skating Federation) and Qualogy have formalized their partnership until the 2026 Olympic Games, with the intention of continuing together into the next Olympic cycle (up to and including 2030). Qualogy has been a long-time partner of the KNSB for processing and storing electronic timekeeping data (ET data), but now the company will also support the federation in talent recognition and development for the long-track speed skating discipline.
Qualogy specifically developed the TalentTracker for the KNSB, a product through which raw data is systematically processed and converted into usable data. This provides insights into the development of young speed skaters compared to current top skaters and retired sporting icons.
With the TalentTracker, all available data (lap and finish times) of all current and former speed skaters are combined into a single dashboard. This provides insight into what the Netherlands has to offer in terms of skating talent. Additionally, it offers insight into the development of each individual, providing guidance for monitoring our skaters and tailoring training sessions.
The KNSB can also quickly identify which target groups require more attention, in order to make further progress in the future.
Remy de Wit, technical director of the KNSB: 'The margins at the absolute top are becoming increasingly narrow. As a speed skating nation pur sang, we naturally don't just want to compete for medals at the upcoming Olympic Games, but also in 2030, 2034, and beyond. Of course, we don't yet know who will be at the starting line representing TeamNL by then. TalentTracker is a key component in the talent recognition and development process on the path to the global elite.'
Paul Mehilal, CEO of Qualogy, adds: 'It's fantastic that we can support the KNSB's talent recognition and development in this manner by making data insightful. Just like our speed skaters, technological advancements move at lightning speed. We are excited to apply data science and artificial intelligence in the next phase, so that we can collectively achieve sustained, significant progress in the performance of the KNSB Talent Team skaters.'

Technical director of the KNSB, Remy de Wit, and Qualogy CEO Paul Mehilal seal the expansion of their partnership with a handshake in the stands of Ahoy during the recently held World Short Track Championships.
