The challenge

Pam Koertshuis is Solution Architect at Municipality Rotterdam. There she is responsible for projects related to Oracle e-Business Suite (eBS). In 2019 the municipality faced a challenge: reconnecting the tendering platform Negometrix (cloud) with eBS (on-premise). Due to an upgrade of eBS this had to happen within 2 months. The municipality chose Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) as the solution. Qualogy helped with the implementation. The tendering platform of the municipality's procurement department was already fully automated. But without the right new connection between cloud application Negometrix and Oracle eBS, the data from Negometrix would have to be entered manually again. Speed was therefore essential.

Availability of the solution

Pam explains: "2 months is not much time for implementing a suitable solution. Therefore, rapid availability of the platform was high on our wish list. After an extensive inventory of various solutions, the choice fell on the integration platform Oracle Integration Cloud. In addition to immediate availability, this platform also offers standard adapters. The eBS adapter in OIC makes the connection between cloud application Negometrix and Oracle eBS quickly possible and even simpler." With the 'connectivity agent' in OIC, on-premise applications – such as the eBS environment of Municipality Rotterdam – can be securely connected to the cloud. OIC is also easy to use thanks to its web-based user interface.

Bringing in extra knowledge

After choosing OIC, the municipality looked for additional knowledge about the integration platform. The municipality enlisted the help of Qualogy for this. Pam explains: "Qualogy consultant Richard Velden helped us with the implementation of OIC. With Richard we brought in a lot of up-to-date knowledge, a fast worker and someone who thinks along well. First connection with a cloud application

Municipality Rotterdam had never previously connected a cloud application to eBS via OIC. Pam: "With cloud applications, security is a hot topic. Negometrix was the first connection with a cloud application via OIC. Then you run into security questions such as: how do you ensure that only the right employees can call the right services? Qualogy solved this for us by implementing IP whitelisting in the OIC environment. This functionality is not included as standard. Now it meets our security requirements."

A pleasant collaboration

Municipality Rotterdam and Qualogy are no strangers to each other. And this project has also been successfully completed. The collaboration suits both sides well. Pam: "Qualogy stands for quality. It is a knowledge house with a lot of Oracle experience. That works very pleasantly together."
